A few thoughts on poppies in art
National Gallery's collection gives view from pretty to stark
I was pleased to be asked by The National Gallery of Canada to write a short piece about poppies as seen in a select few pieces from the permanent collection. It was published by the gallery on Remembrance Day, and it allowed me to allude to memories of a visit that Jenn and I had made to Commonwealth war cemeteries in France, as we searched for own relatives who had died during the First World War.
